In My Mailbox Sunday #4

Oh Santa, you shouldn't have! ;)
In my "mailbox" this week I received some books I have been wanting to read... for a long while! My patience has paid off :D BTW-that Amazon box in the background wasn't for these books, it was for my secret santa gift :):) which turned out to be a huge success! Any hoo onto the books:

Matched by Ally Condie
From GoodreadsCassia has always trusted the Society to make the right choices for her: what to read, what to watch, what to believe. So when Xander's face appears on-screen at her Matching ceremony, Cassia knows with complete certainty that he is her ideal mate . . . until she sees Ky Markham's face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black.
The Society tells her it's a glitch, a rare malfunction, and that she should focus on the happy life she's destined to lead with Xander. But Cassia can't stop thinking about Ky, and as they slowly fall in love, Cassia begins to doubt the Society's infallibility and is faced with an impossible choice: between Xander and Ky, between the only life she's known and a path that no one else has dared to follow.

This book has been one of the most talked about and praised books I've seen around the blogging world, it will probably be the next book I read.

Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia
From GoodreadsThere were no surprises in GatlinCounty
We were pretty much the epicenter of the middle of nowhere.
At least, that's what I thought.
Turns out, I couldn't have been more wrong.
There was a curse.
There was a girl.
And in the end, there was a grave.
Lena Duchannes is unlike anyone the small Southern town of Gatlin has ever seen, and she's struggling to conceal her power, and a curse that has haunted her family for generations. But even within the overgrown gardens, murky swamps and crumbling graveyards of the forgotten South, a secret cannot stay hidden forever.
Ethan Wate, who has been counting the months until he can escape from Gatlin, is haunted by dreams of a beautiful girl he has never met. When Lena moves into the town's oldest and most infamous plantation, Ethan is inexplicably drawn to her and determined to uncover the connection between them.
In a town with no surprises, one secret could change everything.

I had to pick this up after hearing so much about it's sequel Beautiful Darkness which came out this year.

Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick
From Goodreads: For Nora Grey, romance was not part of the plan. She's never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school, no matter how much her best friend, Vee, pushes them at her...until Patch comes along.
With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Nora is drawn to him against her better judgment, but after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora's not sure whom to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is, and to know more about her than her closest friends. She can't decide whether she should fall into his arms or run and hide. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth that is far more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel.
For Nora is right in the middle of an ancient battle between the immortal and those that have fallen - and when it comes to choosing sides, the wrong choice will cost her life.

Awesome cover, this is another book I simply had to pick up because of all the praise it's received. I am so thankful to the blogging world because it has introduced me to so many great reads. Looks like I have a lot of fun reading ahead of me this week, before the year ends! :):)

Did you get any books from Santa this year?

  1. Sadly, I got no books for Christmas. My kids, on the other hand, were showered with books! (Guess I get to borrow theirs.)
