Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins
The Hunger Games #2
391 Pages

From Goodreads: Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark won the annual competition described in Hunger Games, but the aftermath leaves these victors with no sense of triumph. Instead, they have become the poster boys for a rebellion that they never planned to lead. That new, unwanted status puts them in the bull's-eye for merciless revenge by The Capitol.

Highlight to see the complete blurb as it contains spoilers for those who have not read The Hunger Games. This is (I kid you not) the BEST book I have read in many years. It's one of those books I will *ahem* encourage everyone I know to read. I of course couldn't help myself and devoured book #3 right after so I can say that this was in my opinion the best book of the series (and the series itself was amazing so...yeah). It had everything that made The Hunger Games great plus more. The characters become more developed and we get to know some of them better. May I just skip ahead to the ending? Great. Well the ending was absolute cliffhanger perfection. It does wrap up whatever is happening, but starts a whole new situation for book #3. Luckily I had the next book or I think I would have gone mad. I love how complex the main characters are, they are characters you can see part of yourself in and tough. Katniss is the ultimate heroine, and I cannot give her enough credit for getting through so many tough obstacles while still being herself and doing what is best for her family. Her relationship with Peeta is interesting to read as it is both "real" and "fake", talk about a confusing relationship. I Highly, Highly Recommend, AKA READ IT (after the first one of course)! *note* I would like to point out that 56% of Goodreads members gave this book the highest rating of 5 stars, I'm not alone in my opinion so what are you waiting for?

I give this book a golden owl (see I created a new rating just for this book)!

  2. The Hunger Games is one of the best series I've read. I'm so glad I had all three books when I started reading it, because waiting for the second book or the third book would have been complete torture. I'm glad you liked it!!!
