Stone Kissed by Keri Stevens

From Goodreads: When Delia Forrest talks to statues, they talk back. She is, after all, the last of the Steward witches.
After an arsonist torches her ancestral home with her estranged father still inside, Delia is forced to sell the estate to pay his medical bills. Her childhood crush, Grant Wolverton, makes a handsome offer for Steward House, vowing to return it to its former glory. Delia agrees, as long as he’ll allow her to oversee the restoration.
Working so closely with Grant, Delia finds it difficult to hide her unique talent—especially when their growing passion fuels her abilities.
But someone else lusts after both her man and the raw power contained in the Steward land. Soon, Delia finds herself fighting not just for Grant’s love, but for both their lives…

Have you ever wished you could talk to a statue or maybe even a painting? Come on you know you did at some point... Well Delia can talk to statues, and reading her conversations with them was fun, especially with the statues living with her. Those statues reminded me of a dysfunctional family. That "someone else" in the blurb is the villain of the story, and boy is she ever. I hated her character, I just wanted her gone so Delia and Grant could move on with their lives (together!). Their relationship was interesting, there was chemistry yet they both seemed to hold back a little. I found myself asking "porque?" several times throughout the story, I mean Grant sounds like a total hunk and he likes her so... wondering what happens with them and the evil villain? Great! Check it out, it was an enjoyable read with a bit of magic in it. The ending was a bit wam, bam, done but it worked for me.

I give this book 3 owls!

  1. Thanks for your review, Anaiz.
Part of the fun of writing is wish-fulfillment. I got to talk to statues by writing the book! What I like about paranormal romance is that you get to explore the impossible dreams.

  2. This sounds like a fantastic book. I really like the talking to statues part because it is just so out there. Everything has been so vampy and wolfy lately that it's refreshing to come across a novel with lots of creativity. I'll check this out. Great review Anaiz!
